Globalisation and Sustainability

In today's world, Europe faces a growing number of challenges that can only be successfully addressed by collective effort. Globalisation and sustainability are areas where no country can "go it alone". As the global economy continues to integrate, Europe will have to perform the double act of competing with the emerging economies of the developing world and maintaining the leading role it has assumed in the fight against global warming. Globalisation and climate change constitute the new context that will affect almost every policy area and will dominate the political agenda for years to come. Energy, environment, agriculture, consumption, production, trade and development are just examples of policy areas that in the near future will be the object of close scrutiny as Europe works towards a sustainable low carbon future. Change is inevitable.

The Centre organises single events aswell as thematic series as part of this strand.
