How to Respond to Major Disasters Together: What Scope for U.S.-EU Coordination?

The Centre, in cooperation with the U.S. Mission to the EU, is hosting a high-level discussion on the possibilities for disaster relief coordination between the U.S. and the EU and the lessons learned from large-scale disasters, such as the Haiti earthquake, the tsunami in South East Asia, Hurricane Katrina and others. Speakers include
Craig Fugate, Administrator of the U.S. Federal Management Emergency (FEMA), William Anderson, representative to the EU of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Peter Zangl, Director General of the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO).
The discussion will be moderated by Paul Adamson, Chairman of The Centre.
