Reaching the 2020 renewable energy targets?

As the member states put the finishing touches to their National Renewable Action Plans, questions remain over how they will deliver their contribution. The Commission’s latest progress report (2009) showed patchy progress and the EU’s likely failure to reach the 2010 indicative targets. To discuss whether the EU will meet its 20% renewables target by 2020, what hurdles might prevent that target being reached and what can be done at EU, national and regional level to overcome those hurdles will be Hans van Steen of the European Commission’s DG Energy, Claude Turmes MEP and Scottish and Southern Energy’s Chief Executive Ian Marchant.
